Attendance

At Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten children are enrolled on a 5 day fortnight basis and attend our Centre from 8.45am to 2.45pm.

We offer a quality educational program. In line with all Gowrie (QLD) Inc. Centres, our program uses the Government approved Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines to implement the Early Years Learning Framework.

Through this program and a close working relationship with teachers, families and children, Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten, alongside the Gowrie (QLD) Inc., aspires to promote nine broad outcomes for children attending our Centre. These include:

  • a sense of emotional wellbeing
  • secure attachments and social wellbeing
  • intellectual curiosity
  • thinking and problem solving skills
  • a capacity to learn and communicate
  • a sense of physical wellbeing
  • respect for self and others
  • confidence with technology
  • resilience

Your child will attend 3 days one week and then 2 days the next, or vice versa.

Our Centre supports two classes, Kindy M every Monday, Tuesday and alternative Wednesdays and Kindy C on alternative Wednesdays and every Thursday and Friday. Each class is led by a Director and an Assistant.

Please note that our Centre operates during QLD public school terms and also has the same holidays as QLD Public Schools.

Fees

We are a Community not for profit Kindergarten and the Management Committee sets the fees each year to cover the costs of running the Centre.

Our current daily fee is $30, invoiced at the commencement of each term.

Families who hold a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, or identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait or South Sea Islander, are eligible for subsidies via QKFS Plus Kindy Support. The QKFS Plus Kindy Support is provided directly to the Kindy to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for eligible families.

We are registered as a child care provider and eligible parents may claim the Child Care Benefit (CCB) via Centrelink.

Jason

Guest Presenter: Jason

What is Disability?

Jason talked to the children about how he lost his hand in a workplace accident

The children gained insight into the difference between 'injury' and 'disability'. They also had the opportunity to break down some barriers around fear and understanding as these relate to people with disabilities.

Sharon

Guest Presenter: Sharon

Dreams & Dreamcatchers

Children's Author Sharon Clark visited the children at Kindy to read to them from her book 'Dreams'.

Sharon also helped the children make dreamcatchers, which were beautifully displayed around the classroom.
