    • Since 1963, Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten has served local families from Cannon Hill, Morningside, Murrarie, Tingalpa and beyond. We are passionate in our belief that childhood is a unique time of life, to be nurtured and enjoyed in its own right. This is the time where foundations are laid for future health, learning and wellbeing.

    We want children to grow up with the understanding, skills and dispositions to be caring people and effective learners, able to contribute to their world and to enjoy rich and successful relationships with others.

How does Kindergarten benefit children?

  • High quality education programs increase children’s life chances.

    • Research tells us that early childhood education and care programs at age 3-4 years is the most consistent and powerful predictor of social and academic attainment in the first year of school. In contrast, the absence of a group-based early childhood education and care experience at this time most consistently predicts poor performance and poor progress. Early education programs not only support the development of early literacy and numeracy but also facilitate the learning of routines that are a prerequisite for successful school participation and attainment.

Our Teachers, Assistants and Staff are passionate about caring for children

Our Teachers, Rhonda Murphy and Leanne Cameron have been with the Kindergarten since 1985 and 1997 respectively and our Assistants are each long-term dedicated personnel. All of our staff are committed to making the Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten the best it can be.

Their individual dedication, and the harmonious staff relationships makes this a wonderfully positive environment for the children who come here.

In our partnership with families, this view is shared by Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten. We encourage parents and carers to be actively involved in their child’s learning throughout their time at our Kindy.

My two children have attended Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Teachers are caring and approachable, the activities fun, inclusive and engaging and there are a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. We love being a part of Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten. The Teachers show a wonderful interest in each child reaching their full potential in their Kindy year. Learning content is structured to the different interests of the children, so there is always something new going on.The environment is colourful, clean, light and airy with plenty of resources to keep the children busy. We enjoy watching the walls fill up through the year with the special masterpieces the children create.The kids are excited to go to Kindy and all smiles when you pick them up.

I can recommend Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten. We will be back in a few years with number 3!

Our son loves his days at Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten. This is his first year in an educational setting and he looks forward to going to Kindy each week. He shares the interesting stories and information he has learnt at Kindy and we hear him singing the songs they have taught him. The Kindy has a lovely environment and the children are warmly welcomed and made to feel special upon arrival each day. The Kindy program is well organised and well resourced. We also value the communication about daily learning and upcoming activities happening within the Kindy.

Cannon Hill Community Kindergarten is a wonderful example of parents, educators and children working together for the benefit of all. The care, respect and attention that the children receive there is wonderful to watch and be a part of. Coming from a Family Day Care environment, my daughter had to learn how to work with larger groups of children and the Teachers have guided her very well. We have been kept well informed of the daily learning activities, so we can continue to be part of the learning process after the Kindy day concludes. It is wonderful that the subjects are so varied and close to the children’s hearts, but are also very practical. The Teachers encourage parental interactions and I have loved joining in the children’s activities at the Kindy.
